Price

$13.00

Stitch up a murder of Crows for a house full of Fall decor.  Your embroidery machine makes quick work of the complex quilted feather details.

  • A flying crow and a standing crow are included in two sizes.
  • Crow figures have quilted wings and tails to mimic feather details.
  • Stitch the parts, stuff the body, then glue or hand-stitch the tail and wings in place.
  • Instructions for wire armatures are included but optional. Don’t be scared. The wired feet and wings are easier than they look!

Tools and Materials Needed

Tools
•    Embroidery machine with 5x7 hoop or larger
•    Sharp fabric scissors and sharp detail scissors
•    (optional) Fabric Glue
•    Long Doll Needle and strong thread
•    Embroidery or painters tape to hold fabric in place
•    (Optional) Wire cutters and Needle-nose pliers for working with wire

Materials

•    Black fleece is best suited for this project.  You may also use other black stretch or non-fray fabrics with this pattern to get a different look.  Woven fabrics could also be used if you want a frayed raw edge on wings and tail for a more raggedy looking crow.
•    1/3 yard of 58” wide fabric will make two small crows or one large crow.
•    Lightweight tear-away stabilizer, (Sulky® Tear-Easy™ works well)
•    Foam stabilizer or thin quilt batting
•    Top and bobbin thread to coordinate with project
•    Fiber Fill Stuffing for Crow body
•    Glass beads for eyes -  size 6/0 for small beady eyes, or size 2/0 for larger eyes.  You could also use buttons or jewels for the eyes for a different look.
•    1/16” Thin armature wire or 16 gauge aluminum wire - you will need 6 feet of wire (183 cm) for the standing crow, and/or 1.5 feet (46 cm) for flying crow
•    (Optional) Floral tape or other soft tape to cover standing Crow’s legs and feet.  Electrical tape is also useful for covering sharp ends of wire.
•    (Optional) acrylic or latex paint for the Standing Crow legs and feet
